Maybe when they talked to Jimeno and Mc Loughlin about their experience, they either didn't ask what the guy's race was, or they did but didn't remember the answer.

I can't see Hollywood, of all places, substituting a white man for a black man in a position of heroism. That would be so politically incorrect it would hurt their collective heads. Skin color matters now more than it ever has in some respects.
