WASHINGTON - Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who has used her son’s death in Iraq to spur the anti-war movement, was arrested Monday while protesting outside the White House.
Sheehan and several dozen other protesters sat down on the sidewalk after marching along the pedestrian walkway on Pennsylvania Avenue. Police warned them three times that they were breaking the law by failing to move along, then began making arrests.
Sheehan, 48, was the first taken into custody. She stood up and was handcuffed, then led to a police vehicle while protesters chanted, “The whole world is watching.”

i almost feel sorry for her, truly. when this dog and pony show is over and she is nothing but another nameless face in the pond, that grief is going to hit her like a ton of bricks. i believe this has been the ultimate distraction for her mind and soul. grief does unspeakable things to a person; her grief is the worst kind. i really think the worst of her internal struggle has not even begun and for that reason, and that reason only, i pity her. i believe she has been used and fittingly will be cast aside like an old shoe when her purpose has been served. then, she deals with the real hurt. then, and only then, will she stare eternity straight in the eye for probably the first time since her son's tragic death.

Well said. I can't imagine what the loss of a child would do to a parent.

I think you nailed it Sue. I can only imagine the internal hell she is going thru and believe me I have thought about it.

Every parent has. But for some, like you, it comes way too close to home.
Well said, RR.

Neither does she in this picture. Grieving??? I had to laugh when I saw this photo:
P.S. We can all sympathize with her son's death. But just because he died, doesn't make her morally superior to the rest of us. It also doesn't mean that she should be able to "trump" any arguments/discussion levied against her.
I think her 10 seconds of media attention are over.

That comment seems a little harsh, not to mention a little one dimensional. But I guess the media encourages us to think in one-dimensional terms - whether you're coming from the right or the left.

More one-dimensional thinking wouldn't you say? When grieving the death of my father I could have been found smiling, or even laughing at times, and gasp, I even did it in public. Didn't mean I wasn't grieving.

Nice post RR, I agree with most of what you've said here. The first couple of times I heard Cindy Sheehan speak I had a real sense that she had a legitimate anti-war message. But the media quickly began manipulating her to use her in this war against Bush racket that sells so many newspapers. I do feel bad for her, I don't think any of us can truly say they know where she's coming from. I just look at her as someone who wanted to get a message out but the heart of her message has long been lost in the cat calls.

I'm LMAO Steve. The media is manipulating her? Have you even read some of her insightful comments?

Yup.
You've tried to use the media to manipulate peoples perceptions of her motivations, Sonny. You posted a picture of her smiling and questioned whether she's actually grieving. Weren't you just participating in a silly game of political cheerleading?
