Where have all the great TV sitcoms gone? Do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultery? Why is the 4 on a Roman numeral clock a IIII and not a IV? In Rome, do they call iv's 4's? Whatever happenned to that Webster kid? Am I the only one that had a childhood crush on Punky Brewster? Where is she now? If a man speaks in the forest, and no woman hears him, is he still wrong? Do all childhood stars grow up to have drug problems and fight with their parents about money? If you could find the center of the universe, would it be egotistical to claim that the universe centers around you? Has a monkey ever attacked you with coconuts? Did they taste like yogurt? Does anyone else wish these stupid reality shows would go away? Is it time to go home yet?

I was with you until the coconut part (except for the Punky Brewster part - I had a crush on MacGyver):
Why would they taste like yogurt?

Read the summarries of the four part report. It makes Gabe's little journey sound even more bazaar. That boy has some loose marbles. By the way does anyone else find it odd that Track & Field News found it fitting to do a four part report on this? Very strange....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction
(In which Gabe’s decision to ride his bike to Brazil [T&FN, March] is explained)
Trip updates from Gabe’s father, Jim:
Report 1
(In which Gabe is robbed in Guadalajara, then pedals all night to keep warm in the high altitude near Mexico City)
Report 2
(In which Gabe runs into a truck in Oaxaca)
Report 3
(In which Gabe is robbed in both Nicaragua and Costa Rica, but remains in high spirits, meeting many new friends)
Report 4
(In which monkeys assault Gabe with coconuts as he runs through the Costa Rican jungle and Gabe later accedes to his parents' wishes that he skip violence-torn Colombia in favor of a plane hop to altitudinous
Peru)

I am hopeful that Gabe will still be able to father a grandchild when his training is over.
I agree it is nutty, judging by the quote above!!!

Ah, thank you for the moment of clarity, MM.
A yogurty treat...yes...well.
Gabe seems to have problems, as does the gentleman that wrote this...short story? Article? What would you even call this? Certainly is strange!

I don't know where she is, but she grew up rather nicely, no?

Soleil Moon Frye was on I Love the 80's on VH-1
hard to believe Punky Brewster is all grown up
an aside (as usual)
One of my fraternity brothers went out to L.A. during summer break as his uncle was a TV producer and he was majoring in Voice and Theater.
Well he came back the next fall and told us he had bit parts on some TV shows and he let on that one was Punky Brewster. It must have been really funny to an outsider to walk in on 20-30 frat guys gathered around a TV watching Punky Brewster with beers in their hands.
