Thats what we give in the hospital for it (aka Diflucan). You are right about antibiotics being the cause, they screw with the natural balance of flora around your body that would otherwise keep the candida in check. If you like yogurt, eating that is also supposed to help (not sure how effective it really is) Anyway, Feel better soon!

you can do the yogurt, but it has to have the live acidopholis...stuff.. in it. You can hold it in your mouth for a bit then swallow. I hear it does help too, but have never used it for that. They always gave me mycostatin oral suspension......tasted like yuk, and it didn't really work all that well. My thrush was from steroids for my Lupus.

Are you any better today Ranger? The fact that you were up posting so early doesn't seem like a good indicator...

I am sorry you both have endured/are enduring this but its been helpful for me, I had no idea it was so painful. If its not like pouring salt in Ranger's wound to describe, what IS it like? (it will help me help my patients) And why does it seem like you could just clean it off with a tongue scraper? I think something else we give them via spray is a numbing thing. I technically am not GIVING the drugs on my shifts at the cancer hospital, so I'm not totally sure.

I was on steroids for 17 years. I DID scrape it off, then use the meds and it did feel like pouring salt into the wound...what I should have done was use the numb-er upper first..then scrape then the med. (I don't think they advise the scraping part...but it can get so thick, I think the med works faster if ya get rid of some of it....)

I am a bit better today.

The sore throat is almost gone, tho the tongue is still painful.

The Thrush is on the back 1/2" of my tongue, and while it looks just as bad, at least I can eat. It does feel like raw hamburger..like when you slide into home plate and take the skin off your arm or leg...

MW went out this morning and got some yogurt with live culture and I have been eating that too. I am getting hungry now, so that is another good sign.

If I improve as much between now and Monday morning as I have from yesterday to now, I should be good to go for Copteachers class. I am making my final notes now.

This is a miserable affliction...possibly the worst sore throat I have ever had...and the worst thing I have ever had happen to my tongue... I guess you could also say it feels like you burnt your tongue...very badly...only it is not better the next day...
