Some of the Digital TV discussion groups I follow have basically come to the same conclusion -- All the FCC needs to do is state whether the movie, in its original/unedited format, violates their decency standards. They refuse to tell the affliates, in advance, if the movie violates those standards -- Thus some affliates fearing the SuperBowl backlash on CBS are deciding to pass on the SPR.

Seems ridiculous to me, but that's our efficient federal govt. in action.

It's incredibly ridiculous. To further make this whole thing silly, SPR has been aired twice before, unedited. There were complaints to the FCC and the FCC is apparently on record as dismissing the complaints. I would think that set enough of a precedent to air SPR again this time on Veteren's Day.

That said, it was on in my market and I watched the last hour. Good stuff.

Agreed.

I didn't realize that SPR had already been on Network TV twice. If I'm a network affliate, that is a huge precedent IMHO.

I think the ABC affliate here in ATL is NOT showing SPR.

Our son saw it in high school for one of his classes. While I've never seen it, I thought it was good for him to, just to present war for the horrible (and occasionally necessary) thing it is.

I agree with kido on everything except it being a horrible movie.

I own the movie, and I only watched when the kids were asleep.
