Great day for a race and a great cause: $$$ went to the veterans! Nice ceremony before the start of the race on the Southeast lawn of Soldier Field....
I wasn't sure if I was going to race or just have some fun today running along the lakefront. For 10 miles I couldn't decide!!
Started out nice around 7:58 / mile and picked up a little from there. Felt sluggish out there for a while, then got into somewhat of a groove. Lots of people (2700). Started to run out of gas after the turn around at mile 5 and stopped for water / gatorade 3 times.
I have to say, it never gets old running a race along Chicago's Lakefront in the late spring when it is warm outside.
Lots of folks fishing and just enjoying the morning.
OK, back to mile 9 which is at McCormick Place and heads back into Soldier Field. We come into the front of the place where people are out cheering, we go around, then inside and come out the tunnel the players use, and go right onto the field. What a thrill!!!
We round past the end zone and up the sideline and finish on the 50 yard line. Everyone is on the huge Jumbotron on both end zones. Cameras everywhere and people cheering in the stands.
Verry cool and a finish time of 1:18:49....not bad for an old guy!
Have a great Holiday and a personal Thank You to all the vets that make it possible for me to run a great race in a great Country like ours.

Thank You Vets!!
