Posted: 07/09/03 - 09:29 Post subject: So we gift wrapped an arrest for our detective division...
Another officer and I spent several hours doing background, getting statements, checking facts and talked to numerous people on a pretty invovlved residential burglary.
We typed up a multipage reports basically telling them the whole story from start to finish. Had contact information and everything they would need to follow up and just do the necessary work to bring it to completion.
When we get to work today, the only thing the Det. Sgt had to say was that I did not date one part of the report and the other officer did not put attention detectives.
We were both steaming. No nice job on all the background, No hey way to go thanks for saving us a bunch of time. No, it was no date and no attention detectives.
I am furious because I personally spent a lot of time on this and get dinged for not "dotting an i"
My supervisor talked with our deputy chief about it and the whole reason behind this is that we got so much information that it basically made them look bad. Because we were more thorough than they usually are (go figure for detectives), and that is how she responded.
We may end up taking over the investigation only because we have gone so far. But there is a lot more time invovled that we take us away from patrol duties.
Oh well.

Yep,
You should take over the case! Then YOU should become a detective.
When one of the people under me do a great job, I tell everyone and let them shine a bit! Helps morale and they feel good about their job.
Keep your chin up, this sort of thing happens every day. Be glad you are not in Philly, you would be getting this on a daily basis.

Typical. The only thing people hate more than being proven wrong is being showed up. This is why we're slowly becoming a society based on mediocrity.
Good show though, Joe!

That's typical.
I am unliked by several other teachers in my school.
You know why? The kids like me.
They are jealous of my ability to be able to teach and get along with the students at the same time.
also, guess which teacher has the least number of discipline problems with the students?
It's ridiculous. Jealousy sucks. Nice job Joe.
