I am not startled by much, y'all prolly figured that out by now. But this new guy really has me freeked out kinda. So about a month ago or so I get a call one evening while I was working someone eleses shift. It was a guy with a very distinct voice, one you would remember, ya know? He asked about tanning and finally said he wanted to make an appointment, what time did I close that night? I said we closed at 9 and he said ok, he's come to tan at 9.  WTF? I said no, last appt. I take is 8:30, he said he'd come then. He was hesitant to give me his name but finally said his name was Tom. So he never showed up. 2 days later again in the evening I get a call at the gym. I recognized the voice immediately and asked if it was Tom. He said yeah he wanted to make a tanning appt. when did I close that night. I said 8 and of course he said he'd come then at 8!! HUH?? so he made a 7:30 appt. and again, didn't show up. He had also mentioned that he was already very tan.
3 days later this guy walks in the gym with 3 little girls. He was very tan n very fit. As soon as he opened his mouth I recognized the voice as the guy on the phone the week before.  He said his name was Mike(ok, whatever ) and he moved out here from the burbs, owns his own business but has people work for him now cuz he's 40 and shouldn't have to work, was Mr. Illinois in 19??, blah, blah, blah. He liked the gym and said he would be in to try the 14 day trial soon. He came in 2 days later to workout. I happened to be off, but was lifting that day. He followed me around the weightroom like a puppy.  I kept trying to not conversate with him, not make eye contact etc and kept moving to another area where he wasn't. One of the other guys, a friend of mine, finally came over to me and said I wasn't getting anything accomplished and that this guy was following me around with his tongue hanging out.  That was it, I just left. When I came in to work a few hours later my employee told me she heard this guy asking people in the weightroom who I was and where did I live. He even asked my employee when nobody told him anything. Kinda made me feel creeped out cuz he just seems weird.
So since then he has somehow figured out where I live and has been seen driving up and down my street. He also must have overheard a conversation at the gym about me going to run at the track cuz he showed up at the park next to the track just sitting on the picnic table watching me.  He mainly comes in the gym when I work. The other day he said he saw me running by his house and that he recognized me from BEHIND. He also wondered why I was over by his house when I live clear across town. Yesterday, he approached me for a job. I had already shut him down when he asked about bartering cleaning services for membership. And why do you need a job if you own your own business??? He also told me our bank wouldn't open a checking account for him. He said they said it was cuz he bounced 1 check in his life. I say BS something is fishy with this guy.
My googling skills are poor but a friend managed to find 4 different addresses for this guy. He claims to have been through a messy divorce and moved out here for his kids.
He is on a short term membership now, just a month, claims he's gonna join for a year after that cuz he's had car trouble, his company only pays him every so often...blah blah blah.
Now, like I said I'm not typically skeered of anyone but the day this guy came in initially, I over heard someone in the gym saying there was a new sexual predator in town!
So if ya don't see me around send somone to Lena. Seriously, should I be concerned? What should I do if anything?

First, be very very careful around this guy.
Next, start keeping a diary of when and where you have seen this guy.
Basically, you have the right to refuse service to anyone you do not want in your establishment. Tell him you ran a credit check and he must pay cash up front for anything he gets there.
This is not a joking situation, this is classic stalking. I would have my car checked out for any GPS devices. If you find one, contact the police immediately and get a protection order. If he violates the order you can have him arrested.

I wouldn't approach him yourself about this. Call the local po-po and file a complaint. You've got more than enough instances that aren't "coincidental". I'd get it thru his thick skull with a po-po visit that he's unwanted in your life and one step away from a restraining order. And without a doubt, kill the trial membership and let the mister neanderthal illinois know you won't be needing his business.

Call the Po Po NOW! Have them send an officer over. File an initial report so it is on record.
Do you have a "Megans Law" sexual predator website? Did you look to see if he is on it?
Cancel his membership. NOW! Tell him what ever BS story you want...or tell him you don't appreciate your staff being questioned about you and being stalked. You are married and to leave you alone or he will be talking to the Po Po.

Be careful about just up and "killing the trial membership" This guy sounds like he has a short twig and you DON'T want that twig to snap. For real, run the credit check, that might give some real ammo as to not accepting a regular membership.
Do call the cops for real and discuss the situation with them. They may be to do nothing more than send an occasional cruiser down his street. If he see's that, he may start getting hints that this community is not for him. Also, invite a cop to come to the gym when he's there. The simple presence of the cop looking around the gym may give him another sign that whatever he thinks he has in mind may not be worth it.
Also, let your neighbors know what going on. If you're part of a community watch program, have one of them call if they see his car. Multiple reports from different people have a better chance of getting law enforcement and public safety involved.
NEVER BE ALONE, get an escort to walk you to your car at night, etc.
I've given this advice to someone else and the response I got back was, "why should I change my lifestyle 'cause of some creep?" Well, the reality is, you already are changing your lifestyle by being put in an uncomfortable situation.

OK, thanks for all the advice. I am at the gym alone lots of times. I talked to my friend the po po later this afternoon and gave him the info I had on this guy. He is gonna see if he finds anything on him. His free trial membership is over and he is about 2 weeks into the month pass he paid cash for. Although he says he's gonna join long term I really doubt he'll come up with the money. Plus I would not hesitate to refuse him membership.
He is really bold though. One day last week I had DH working one day for an hour or so while I was out to an appointment and this guy came in. First thing he asks if I'm not there is where am I. Well he asked DH not knowing who he was and DH told him I was out for the day. Then he asked him if he knew where I lived and DH said "SHE LIVES WITH ME, I'M HER HUSBAND!" It hasn't seemed to phase him though.
I'll let ya know if I find anything. Thanks.

seriously, let the Po-Po and watch know. there has been a lot of good avice here already that i don't think i can expand on. you might want get a camera phone pic of the guy and pass it along to the Po-Po as well. Thinking of a worse case scenario they'll at least have a pic to go on already. maybe a taser gun to to rock his world, if they are legal in Lenna.
