They finally got enough evidence to arrest Scott Peterson with the recovery of his wife and son-to-be bodies.
First they should let his newest cell mate, Bubba, attempt to impregnate him and then take him out to the middle of the ocean and drop him in.
Other than that I have no opinion about the matter.

If the guy is guilty, and I happen to have an opinion (imagine that), I hope he receives the absolute worst punishment available. Too long has crime against women and children been punished too lightly, in my opinion.

From the outset, I suspected the husband as well. When the bodies were discovered a few days ago, I had that funny feeling (what a coincidence; the bodies of a woman and infant boy washed up on the shore three miles from where he went fishing alone). What I'd really like to know is what is the evidence they have that he committed the crime. Is it also an incredible coincidence that the police solved the case the same time the bodies washed up? Why didn't they arrest Petersen before? Are the bodies the evidence? And what is "capital" murder? I think he did it. I think a lot of people think he did it. I just want to know what evidence they have that he did it.
And Petersen, what a dolt.

Um, yeah. He was playing golf when they arrested him. What search? Smells like OJ Simpson to me. I hope he hired Johnny Cochran. He's gonna need 'im.

My guess is they wanted to nail him good. Without the bodies, they could have had a case, but now, it is probably more airtight than before.
If he did it, I hope he pays.
This is what is most telling to me, somehow:"To the contrary, Peterson sold his wife's Land Rover and used the money to buy himself a pickup."

Was this case on America's Most Wanted or some other crime show? I've been hearing about it for days now, I didn't remember ever hearing about it before now.

Sad thing is, this case is in California. They have charged him with capital murder, but they haven't decided if they'll ask for death. Wouldn't matter, California isn't noted for their use of their execution chamber.
Much easier to charge someone when you have a body. It would be embarrasing for him to be on trial, and the victim surface, alive.
I hate to say it, after years working in the Prison System, he'll live a fairly comfortable life behind bars. He'll be a high profile inmate so he won't see general population for a long time. Too bad, sometimes natural consequences are the best form of justice...

Put him in a cell with Charlie Manson.

We watched about an hour of this last night (I couldn't stand looking at the same three clips of him over and over and over..).
I'm gonna be real curious when they release more details on the exact motive and such. It sucks monkeys...that's for sure

Manson's singing would be punishment enough! (he has his own band)

Capital murder is that which is intentional or premeditated, usually, although there can be other types of capital murder that are defined by statute, which would create an aggravating factor. For example, killing a policeman would likely be capital murder, even though it would not likely be premeditated.
The charge is important because in many states you can't get the death penalty unless it's a capital crime.

Too true. But I expect they ultimately will seek the death penalty because there's been too much national press on it.
The death penalty can become a bargaining chip for the DA if the evidence isn't very strong. They'll offer to reduce penalty to life if he pleads out.
The whole thing's sickening to watch really. I feel so badly for the woman's family.

Isn't Jeffrey Dahmer's cell available?
I know...wrong state.

He was life was terminated 11/28/1994 by a fellow inmate while he was serving a life sans parole sentence.

BIG FAT
I for one think rotting in prison is too good for him, especially since OUR tax dollars will be paying for it! He deserves to die, and I am not shy about saying it.
Hopefully he'll suffer the same fate as Dahmer. IMHO, lethal injection is too humane for what he did. What a piece of sh*t. I can still remember Laci's mom crying on TV when they made their first statement months ago, right after they cut off contact with him. I can't wait to see all the protesters start begging for his life.....
