Posted: 11/07/04 - 18:39 Post subject: So...how was your weekend?
We had a great time in Ft. Lauderdale, but it ended far too quickly. Saw some good friends from Ohio and although the weather was rainy Saturday, it cleared up for the wedding!
Got to recover Sunday by body-surfing on the beach! My friend Liz and I are both on double-secret probation after singing bad Beegees songs at the wedding Saturday. At least at this wedding no one got a thong flash!
What a great time! We saw a guy today in a red and black thong that scared us. It looked like he had a baby stuffed in there!
So, how was everyone else's weekend?

I had a great weekend.....went on a nice bike tour that benefitted Habitat for Humanity...it was well organized, had good traffic control and good rest stops and long sleeved T shirts....the weather was perfect for it too and the scenery was very bucolic....rolling countryside and big ranches....
Then the GF and I went to see the movie "Ray", which I really enjoyed...

Sounds like a great time. I've never been surfing, body or otherwise. I'm afraid Jaws would get me.
Highly successful weekend here. Finished my computer class, getting an A. I had a great time, but glad it's over. Saturday classes suck butt.
Finished the case brief I've been working on for a couple days. I just hope I did it right.
I also have plans to go on my very first date since the separation. His name is Rick, he's really nice, and has called me 3 times since our meeting at the grocery store check-out Friday afternoon. Meeting him at TGIFs tomorrow night. Not looking for love or anything, just hoping to have a nice time. Wish me luck! Oh, and he's a runner.

I thought that "Ray" looked interesting as well. He was a legend.
Brie, good luck with your class and your date. And the surfing is no big deal down here...the only sharks in the water are more afraid of you than you are of them. The two-legged variety is more prevalent and more dangerous.

We left the boyz at Grandmas yesterday and went to a local hotel where we had a whirlpool suite reserved for the night. This was suppose to be for our 20th anniversary which was in August but I was unable to get away until now. We checked in at 3pm and was asked which floor we wanted to be on. I asked which would be more quiet and was told 2nd or 3rd as there was a 9 yr. old having a birthday party and would be in the pool area which was on the main floor. Since we have a huge whirlpool in the room I told her put us on the 3rd floor then. We get up there and settle in then realize we are right next to and across from the birthday boy who has 2 suites full of 9 yr. old boyz.
We went into town to get some snacks and drinks and came back with 4 different kinds of chips, 2 different kinds of dip, a box of crackers, 3 carmel apples, a 6pak of beer, 2 lg. bottles of wine and 2 extra large pizzas. We got back had a few pieces of pizza, 2 beers apiece and a few glasses of wine. We ate nothing else, spent some time in the whirlpool and DH was out like a light by 8. I tried to sleep but those boys were up all f--in' night running down the halls, screaming, laughing, playing in the elevators.....ding, ding ding........
It was nice to be away but I was looking forward to good nights sleep since we get up each weekday at 3:50 a.m. And if you were wondering it wasn't a total loss either.
I had a carmel apple for breakfast too.
Back to reality now.

oooh! bries going on a da-ate! good luck and be sure to give us all the details!!
my weekend was ok.
fri was really cool, i got to meet with our speaker. hes a big endocrine disruptor guy and we had a lot to talk about. then i jetted home so the bf and i could go up to the cabin in elijay. we got up there made dinner and built a fire.
sat was lazy. we spent the day waiting for the bfs parents and some family friends to come up for dinner. it was nice to see them agian. then we drove home and i got to get caught up on desparate house wives!
today sucked. i woke up realizing that i hadnt read either paper for my discussion class tomarrow that im presenting in. so ive spent the last 8 hours trying to decipher what in the heck this lady did to some rats and how to explain it to everyone else. i did take a short break to go to target and the drugstore. now im stopping to watch home make over and desperate housewives.

Yeah, watch out. You know how runners like to go the distance.

Mine wasn't too bad. I was more of a referee, the kiddies are really at each other lately
Today we trekked out to Chester County to visit my mom, and we took her out to lunch for her birthday
I was hoping to spend my afternoon watching the Eagles beat the Steelers. I thought preseason ended in August

Reluctantly crouched at the starting line,
Engines pumping and thumping in time.
The green light flashes, the flags go up.
Churning and burning, they yearn for the cup.
They deftly maneuver and muscle for rank,
Fuel burning fast on an empty tank.
Reckless and wild, they pour through the turns.
Their prowess is potent and secretly stearn.
As they speed through the finish, the flags go down.
The fans get up and they get out of town.
The arena is empty except for one man,
Still driving and striving as fast as he can.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup.
But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns.
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.
He's going the distance.
He's going for speed.
She's all alone
In her time of need.
Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse,
He's going the distance.
No trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine,
He's haunted by something he cannot define.
Bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse,
Assail him, impale him with monster-truck force.
In his mind, he's still driving, still making the grade.
She's hoping in time that her memories will fade.
Cause he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup.
But he's striving and driving and hugging the turns.

Friday night went a bit too long to run a race out of town on Saturday morning.
LC worked yesterday and today. Quiet weekend. Though yesterday, TV had a fascinating double feature, as it were. Casablanca, followed by I'm Gonna Git You Sucka.

Ran a sucky 11 miles in the cold wind Saturday morning, spent most of the day recovering from it. I swear, these long runs (11-13 miles) post marathon seem to suck the energy out of me more than the 20 milers pre-marathon. Or I am just getting older...
Started cleaning the house about 8am Sunday, stopped about 4pm, have three large bags of *stuff* to go to the dump tomorrow..just stuff we haven't used since we've moved in here, I don't see us ever using, time to get rid of it. Yes, I've been watching too much "Clean Sweep" type shows on TV.
Dennis made a steamed duck and stuffing and we watched "Pirates of the Caribbean".
Pretty good weekend!
