Posted: 01/10/03 - 09:14 Post subject: So I'm getting dressed at the gym this morning....
and it dawns on me my #@#$%@%@ keys aren't in my coat pocket where they belong. Suspicion number 1 is confirmed, they are lying on the front seat of my truck that is locked. Closest spare key is 7 miles away in a locked house that I can't get into because my keys are locked up. Start searching around gym for a clothes hanger. One dude asks me what I'm looking for, I explain situation. He just happens to have a slim jim in his truck and he knows how to use it. I don't bother asking why, after much farting around we get truck unlocked and I'm only a half hour late. I need to get a key made and stick it in my billfold.

Nope it wasn't that old '72 stepside Dodge that is supposed to be a restoration project. It was my new truck... my '84 Dodge....

I've performed that manuever several times, only once on my own vehicle though. The rest were on friends or neighbors who locked their keys in.

I used to have an extra carkey in my purse, but then once when I thought my purse had been stolen, I realized that someone could come to my house and try all the cars around it until s/he found mine.

I carry a slim gym in my trunk. Will do me a lot of good if I lock my keys in though. Nice thing about my car is that I have to have the keys in my hand to lock my door.
