Posted: 05/06/05 - 10:30 Post subject: So Far Today... (UPDATED!)
I have:
Put the snow blowers in storage. Yes, I have two - I won one and its great for light snow storms.
Mowed the lawn for the first time this year.
Got the route ready for the appliance delivery guys and our new washer and dryer.
Took two dayquils since I got a cold the other day. Nyquil tomorrow AM when I go to bed.
Washer and Dryer installed.
Took nap.
Ate dinner consisting of an antipasto salad.
Will now watch TV before going to work at 2130 starting at 2230.
Run at 0800 tomorrow.

So far today:
I have opened the office,
Printed all pertinent reports
Checked all outgoing orders for our trucks
Input them, and printed the receipts
I have had a headache.
I have spoken to Mr Aire
And debated the merits/downsides to drinking heavily.

The same old song and dance. A bit more time here for the second straight day, though.
Edited to add: Answer a couple PMs, too.

- Switched the processing period on IRM
- Compiled BUD general ledger batches for transmission
- FTP'd BUD batches from the AS/400 to the SQL server for audit processing
- Oversee batch approval processing by some of our accounting technicians
- Run SUTI processing job to create BC/GL and Cash Management system entries from the approved batches.

I am impressed at the knowledge base needed to do that but I'm thinking this involved about 15 minutes of keying.

Met with my boss's boss.
Lost one huge piece of work to another person.
Gained another huge piece of work that is the equivalent of busy work for me.
Went pee three times.
Entered two contracts.
Updated my blog.
Sent three e-mails.
Copied some stuff.
Considered how to automate the busy work I was presented with above.

Add:
-Request LAN security change for user so they can access network folder. (fill out forms in triplicate)
-Hear from security admin that they already have access
-Insist that they do not
-complain about security admin not knowing how to do their f'ing job
-verify user does not have access
-learn that user did have access, but couldn't modify files
-berate user for telling me they didn't have it when they did
-apologize profusely to security admin
-re-assess my decision to not have a beer for lunch
