Is this just a regional thing or does this happen in other parts after big snow storms.

I <cough>accidentaly</cough> bumped a chair out of a spot when I got home tonight. Someone took the spot that I had dug out.

Under the law Greg you are correct. Though you were reclaiming what is yours. We get calls like this all of the time. Basically it is not right for another person to park in a spot you worked hard to shovel out but it is not illegal.
I am glad I have off street parking and a three car driveway now.

According to the article it's actually illegal to barricade a space?!

That's amazing the lengths people will go to to save a space. I can understand after shovelling this weekend--what a pain in the back!

Yeah, in Texas they use giant cockroaches to save their spots.

It happens in the Pittsburgh neighborhoods too. houses are close together and there's very little off-street parking available.

Eric I think I would find another place to park if that was telling me not to park there!

Oh yeah! And it happens all year round... folding chairs are the type of choice.

It happens in Boston and is 100% acceptable. In South Boston if you take another persons "Marked" spot you could get yourself killed! And whoever murdered you would probably get off scott free.

On another note here. In Cambridge they give you a ticket if you don't shovel your sidewalk. So all the sidewalks around this town are clean.

Actually, they are pretty polite in my neighborhood about it. People helped other people get dug out and stuff.

Shocked Shocked

We average nearly 100" of snow (not this year) and I've never seen such a thing. Even in Minneapolis or St Paul. Egaads.. definitely a noreaster kinda thing.

Not here, it is a free-for-all. In fact, people will wait in thier cars for you to finish shoveling out your car!
