I had a VW bug in college. Part of the floor was rusted so I had to use
some plywood to keep the battery from falling out.

Oh definitely. The worst one I ever had was blowing up the manual transmission in one of my previous trucks, in my driveway, which is on a fairly steep hill and having it lock up the driveshaft in the process so I couldn't coast or roll the stupid thing out of the way. You've just never had fun until you've swapped out a 200+ lb transmission while lying on a gravel driveway on a hill..... oh and since it was 4x4 the unbelievably heavy transfer case had to be removed also and set aside before i could get to the tranny. what a frickin' nightmare.

I had a '74 dodge dart a long time ago that had very rusted wheel wells in the back. I had a piece of plywood deflecting the spray from the rear tire so it wouldn't land on the back of my drivers seat and the back of my head.

Keltic must lose the not-so-fine Ford products and drive the mighty Plymouth minivan. Especially with the Mitsubishi engine; they never die, they just send smoke signals.

2 hoses blown. Very low tranny fluid too. The thing that bugs me is that no one has gotten to the real cause of the overheating, but if I get the car home, I may be able to look at that myself. For some reason I recall buying a thermostat and installing it, but it's been about 10 years agon on another car.
Keltic,
Have someone check the radiator. Sometimes the core gets clogged, the cap does not seal well, or the tank seam leaks a little. It could even be the themostat. All will give you an overheating problem. If you lived closer I would check it for you.
I guess I was lucky...I grew up on a farm, and had to be able to fix just about anything mechanical, electical, etc, by the age of 10.
Orange Bubble: I buy brake pads for less than $20. You driving some special car? |

Cool Pokychick! My son has a 1964 beetle that has a race transaxle and super custom engine that he and his uncle built up. Turns out about 230 hp. That's a lot when you consider the original engine was about 60 hp. (I think he saw the Vin Diesel movie too much).
Oh...and I DID tell him to keep away from Radnor Township! Actualy he will only race at the drag strip. He has so much money in that car that he is afraid that it will be confiscated if he even chirps the tires on the street. I encourage that fear Hey RTPD, I think I have an idea for an unmarked chase car
