I just went in and looked at the boys, they are sleeping. They just look so innocent and peacful sleeping and covered up with their new blankets on Christmas morning. I know, I'm being a Mom.
C'mon you know what I mean.

my youngest angel came in at 0530, woke up the oldest angel and we had to wake up the middle angel at 0600 in order to get all of the presents opened before I left.
I love watching my kids sleep very very soothing.

For the first time in 15 years we opened presents here on Christmas Eve. I didn't like it as much as Christmas Morning. The boys are 13 and 16 and the 16 yr. old said before we started last night he would rather wait till Christmas morning too. Weird cuz he's been on me to let them open 1 thing at least since the day after Thanksgiving.

You're right, it is different and not necessarily better. We always did traditional Christmas morning when I was a kid, but once I moved out, my parents started doing our presents Christmas Eve, way way late after all the company left (they have a party every year with all the neighbors and stuff) and we'd end up getting home at like 3AM,sleeping til noon and sometimes not opening presents here til mid-afternoon.
This is the first year in 6 years my roomie wasn't here on Christmas morning. We went to my family's yesterday and my parents' last night--no big party cuz my mom's been really sick, so it was quiet, plus we wanted to get home early to go to church. He's coming over later today to open presents and for dinner, but it was definitely different this morning.

We started about 6:30, Mrs. Boiler was up at about 6 to get some water and stayed up to see the kids reactions. They came and got me around 6:15 or 6:20.

Our girlie didn't get up until almost 8 am and only with some loud banging around the house.
Completely abnormal child.

I've always called it "recharge".
Airejr always went to bed and slept soundly--a loud party wouldn't wake him--trust me, we've tried. And woke up raring to go at 0630.

We did the "open one present" on Christmas Eve 1 or 2 years I think. It was pretty pointless because we did it in the evening, and we got to play with whatever for like 10 minutes before going to sleep. And let's face it, you don't want to play with a toy when there's 5 possibly way cooler toys still under the tree.
