If you're going to enter the clydesdale category, should you have to prove your weight? Should it be posted on the final results?

I think you should haveto weigh in, but that the weight should not be posted.

I've raced in that category many times. I'm tall and qualify just based on height alone. I can be skinny, but heavy based on the weght of my bones. It pisses people of. I think that would help, actually.

My post previous here still standing, this is right if there is a clyde division, and the same goes for age groups. Prove your age or your weight, and let the race officials have that on record if someone protests. But don't post the age or weight of the specific runners - showing them in the age/weight group is enough.

I qualify as a clydesdale, but never enter as one because I think it's stupid. Do they have a 'beanpole' division for the tall runners that have to deal with all of that extra wind resistence? What about large-chested women - now there is a true running handicap.

I've seen some Clydesdale-sized runners get peeved when they see the people who win the Clyde division because, --- surprise, they look fit and aren't much, if any, slower than the age-group winners. I think they think it should be only for overweight people. Maybe we should just go by body fat % to make sure no fit, but big people win or just give awards to anyone who is fat and runs the race.

Your fat, your run - great - your prize is better health. Your big, you run - great your prize is better health. You're small, light, but frankly just not fast enough win - great - your prize is better health.

Leave the medals to those who cross the line first.

I'm a clydesdale runner and a senior master..... I have no problem if I have to prove my weight or my age. I don't think I look like I weigh 200 lbs. and people have been surprised at my age. I also don't care if I have to have my weight or age on my bibb ........I'm proud when I place in either AG or weight divisions. I try to encourage the young skinny runners I pass on my way to the finish line. Mr. Green

Hi Folks, new here but have an opinion. Definately should be willing to weight in. Just like the age thing. I like Jims, point of being proud of weight and age while passing the young skinny folks. A well deserved grin there! Very Happy

Feckin' word. I suppose I'm technically an Athena runner, being that I lift a lot and I'm pretty sturdy stock. I don't want to be gimped into a placing because I'm "heavier" (even if it is mostly muscle). I want my time on record just as it is.
