I got my packet for Grandma's in the mail today -- should I or shouldn't I?

Running Madison Marathon will be a push for me...Grandma's is 3 weeks further out...and I'll need the extra time to get into decent marathon shape...

CB isn't crazy about the idea because of lodging accomodations and the hassle of dealing with a big marathon with kids in tow. I would be able to stay with a family friend who lives in Duluth but she is a bit eccentric and kinda on the ADHD side....

Place your opinion here....

If you need the extra three weeks, default to Grandma's. You planning on setting a new PR, or just run one? If you need the 3 weeks for the PR, you have your answer.

when you are as slow as i am...you don't run one just to run one...i know I can do better then my first two...but a real PR attempt may need to wait 'til the fall...

Well, I don't know how you felt after your first two. There is no way in hell I'd be able to run two that close together without some sort of "itis" issue or getting sick. That's a lot of strain on your body. Just my two cents; you might be better equipped to handle it. I couldn't do it.

This wouldn't mean you'd skip out on coming to Madison, does it? Confused Do what's best for yourself, Mega.

I like the 3 weeks longer to train. More time would equal a better event.

No, we'd probably still make it to Madison but would probably run the 10k or Half instead of the full...

I've been looking at the brochure and just found out that they serve Ultima thumbs down ...which is a big, and I mean very big strike against any event...

In that case, by all means - run Grandma's!

Oh, you most certainly MUST come to Madison.....that goes without saying! An RR event without you and Camelia.....no way!! Wink

Ultima....yechhhh!!! That's going to create more of a hassle, having to have your own supply of Gatorade/Powerade on hand. Is it really worth it? Personally, I'd say do the half at Madison to give your body a break, and then gear up for a fall marathon and run DSM (more local) or TCM again. Or if you don't want to train in the summer, look for something in the winter further south or in the spring. What's worse for you, training in the heat or the cold?

There is no way to say 1 in any way that wouldn't be an understatement.

Which course offers the best opportunity for a PR.

How much time do you have to decide, are both events races that fill up quickly.

Grandma's is a pretty fast course...Madison isn't overly difficult but isn't especially known as a PR course either...(too many turns, and a few hills)...

Madison won't close...Grandma's closed in 13 days last year...

I would say Madison. That is my completely unbiased opinion. Smile
