Would the gas add additional contaminant to the meat?
Personally, if I'm going to eat something that has anything to do with gas, it's going to be a big heapin' pile of beans.

im not sure, though i wouldnt think so. all of the animals we feed out at the zoo (rats, mice, chicken, quail) are euthanized with gas. in fact in the commissary at the zoo, if we ever need to knock an animal out, we put them to sleep with CO (carbon monoxide).
i dont think that would be the prefered method of euthanisa if there was an issue of contamination from the food source.
