but she obviously supports the troops.
Well done.
| Quote: | WASHINGTON -- Cher's new mission is saving lives of U.S.troops.
Cher went on C-SPAN Tuesday to promote a group called Operation Helmet that provides helmets to protect troops from concussions from bombs, not just from bullets.
"This is a difference between life and death," she said.
The head of Operation Helmet, Dr. Bob Meaders, a retired U.S. Navy physician, said the Pentagon has said it can't afford the $70 to $100 the upgrades cost.
Cher said she finds that "shocking." She told C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" program that she first heard of the program through her sister, who read about it in a newspaper.
The actress and singer declined to say how much money she had donated to the program, only that it was "enough."
Meaders is urging people to donate money through the group's Web site so troops can wear a "safer bucket" on their heads.

Once again, I have to iterate: I have a lot of resentment towards people of "my" generation over the treatment me and fellow military got during Vietnam.
I am very very happy to see the distinction has been made between the "war" and the "warrior".
Thank you Cher !!

Thank you Cher !! | Mr Aire and I were talking about this the other night. They had one of those house makeover shows on and their intended recipient was a war vet who had lost his leg. They thanked him repeatedly for his service and treated him very well. I mentioned that no way would this have occurred after Vietnam. It was cool to see the respect for his bravery.
He was a medic who lost his leg but still kept tending to others despite his wounds.
