I didn't know our secretary also works where you work....
Fortunately I'm no longer in the cube next to her. She spends more time out on the stairs leading to the shop smoking than she does working. And she literally sounds like she's about to launch a lung when she gets into one of her fits.

sounds like a bad bad case of bronchitis. She'll need antibiotics for it to go away (least that's what I got for mine).
edited because again, there's that jack@$$.

My bad. Funny how I just assumed that, eh?
I get bronchitis every couple years whether I'm smoking or not. When I worked, my boss MADE me go to the doc because I was a twit like that secretary.
I'm still a twit, don't get me wrong (as evidenced by this thread) but I do see the doc now when necessary.
Maybe she doesn't have insurance? Your co. may offer it, but maybe she declined?

Could be the ventilation system where you work. The one here screws me up within about a half-hour after I show up - and has done so for the last ten years or so.
I don't hack a lung (or a loogie), but I do have to cough a lot, and my voice sounds hoarse when I talk (though my throat doesn't hurt).

No no no, your secretary works HERE and she's 2 cubes away. The only time she isn't hacking like a TB victim is when she's gone smoking or eating. Fortunately for our nerves, both of those events take place several times an hour.
