was on ESPN2's Cold Pizza this morning.
I came away kind of impressed. I'm a how do you say, liberal Republican(is there such a thing). And I have been trying to "sift through" the Democratic candidates to see who would have a chance in the upcoming election against President Bush.
Edwards poll #'s are not very high, and his chances don't look good for winning the Democratic nomination, however, I really think he would have one of the best chances against Bush. He's a real personable guy...and an active runner too (said he runs 5 miles a day).
Any of you Carolinians care to comment on Senator Edwards?
or anyone else for that matter.

if he runs against Bush he will lose on two counts.
Bush can literally run faster and Bush will beat any of the dems period.

(I resemble the latter group )
I saw him interviewed just recently and had the same thoughts, he comes across as an approachable, personable, honest guy, which it could be argued thats why people voted for GWB or Clinton. His poll numbers aren't promising and Howard Dean seems so strong right now coming off that Gore endorsement, but maybe the primaries will change that once some of the other candidates who might be dividing the votes a little, Lieberman, Sharpton, etc. are out of the way. I am curious if any of you Carolinians (what is that word?) have any opinions.
And, as The Daily Show put it, look at what happened to the last candidate Gore endorsed for president and how far he got? (himself)

Well, I wouldn't vote for the guy. Practically from the very second he took office in the Senate, he began lobbying for the VP (for Gore's run) and now the Presidential nomination. Most of his home state doesn't care about him anymore since at most 10% of his time in DC has been spent actually serving his constituents. His record of no-shows on Senate votes is deplorable. Not being able to carry your home state should tell you a lot.
In any regard, the guy made his money by being an ambulance chaser, pure and simple. He seems more focused toward climbing ladders and accumulating fame/wealth/power rather than actually doing anything.
But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
