I'm looking to buy my husband a nice watch for fathers day. The Seiko Kinetic watches look really cool ( they don't use batteries ) but has anyone ever owned one? I don't want to buy one and find out it's not as reliable as a battery powered watch. Men, any watches you would recommend?

i have one, it's probably 4 years old though.

it's heavy. Neutral it was cool not to have the battery change out though. maybe they've designed them to be lighter now. dunno

So no problems then? Besides it being heavy, do you like it, or wished you'd have gotten something else?

i think they're good for someone who wears a watch every day, i didn't so it was constantly powering down due to lack of movement. i'd much rather wear a running watch just due to the weight of it. the seiko was very reliable though i just didn't wear it enough, it is kinda dressy i guess.

I have a seiko kinetic on my wrist right now - love it. Got it maybe 5 years ago it had a bum battery at first ( there is a battery in it that is charged by the kinetic motion) that Seiko fixed for free and it runs like a champ now.

I have the Seiko Kinetic Sports 200. I've had it for 7 years.

I had one problem with it about 6 months after I got it - it would just stop running every once in a while. (I only took it off to shower, so I knew it wasn't from lack of motion.) I sent it in under warranty and haven't had a problem with it since. I never found out what caused the problem.

Other than the small glitch, it's a great watch and it keeps time very accurately. I'd definitely buy another one.

DH had a really cheesy gold one and he loved it. However, I made fun of him endlessly because it looked like something out of the Mr. T reject collection and quit wearing it. He wears a different brand in a brushed nickle or something.

They are heavy.

I bought one for my MIL as an "I'm glad we're finally friends" gift.

She wears it everyday. She loves it!!!
