Got my dates mixed up on the Deification of Jesus and Establishment of the Trinity:
Here we go:
AD 325: First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea convened by Emperor Constantine: establishes Nicene Creed as the fundamental statement of Christian doctrine.
The purpose was to settle the dispute over the teachings of Arius (d. 336) that Christ was not equal in divinity to God. Council declares that Jesus was equal in divinity to God by majority vote and declares Arianism a heresy. Nicene Creed created.
AD 381: First Council of Constantinople. Convened by Theodosius I, then emperor of the East and a recent convert, to confirm the victory over Arianism, the council drew up a dogmatic statement on the Trinity and defined Holy Spirit as having the same divinity expressed for the Son by the Council of Nicaea 56 years earlier. That statement has been lost, but the work of the council established the orthodox teaching of the Trinity as it is held today.
The council condemned all varieties of Arianism along with a new heresy, Apollinarianism. The sessions, which were attended only by bishops of the East, lasted two months. Nicene Creed reformulated.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to this. I haven't been around for a while.
At the Council of Nicaea, the vote was to affirm the truth the Christian church had always believed from the start, and to rebut a heretic by the name of Arius and his followers. For more information: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11044a.htm
The Old Testament, which was written long before the Council convened says:
"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 700 BC
"I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed."
Daniel 7:13-14, 562 BC
"It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn."
Zechariah 12:9-10, 520 B.C.
And then in the New Testament we also see:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
John 1:1-3
("The word" = Jesus)

Well, I just ordered "What is Scientology" by Ron L. Hubbard. I read "Dianetics" when I was a teenager and remember enjoying the book alot. I'll do a book review for you when I finish it.
