OK
I'm suppose to run in a half marathon Saturday. My 1st. My longest run so far is 11 miles.
Sunday when i was running i got very tired at 9 miles and had to stop.
My time also sucked-1 hour 22 min.
Now i'm scared i won't be able to finish or will finsh while they are giving out the awards.
The race starts at 8am and the awards are at 10:30.
I think i might have bit off more than i can chew or maybe i'm just getting cold feet.
What should i have for breakfast that morning?
I'm thinking that maybe the reason for my lack of energy Sunday. I usually just have oatmeal.
Thanks everyone,
Vanessa

V, you'll be fine. You've put in tons of hours and miles of training so you KNOW you can go the distance. thumbs up Plus, you'll be in a race so all the energy of the crowd and the 'race day' atmosphere will help you those last couple of miles. Mr. Green
As for what to eat. Eat what you normally eat in the AM. Do the same things you've done during your training, and continue with whatever has worked. Just don't try something new on race day, stick with the old tried and true.
Have a GREAT race! And give us the details.

You'll be OK. I'd never run 13 miles before I did my first (and only) half either. Have FUN!

don't sell yourself short runnergurl! if you have followed a training program, you will be fine. you're just anxious. i was kinda nervous before that first half. took me over two hours but i was so excited to finish.

you'll do great. just remember it's your first of many.

do what flarunner says and eat what you normally eat. no new stuff. just relax and go with the flow.

Good luck Vanessa. I am sure you will have no problems. The adrenaline and race atomsphere will get you through the race. Stay focused on finishing and then bask in the glory of your finish.

You're much faster than me Embarassed . By my calculations that pace would put you under 2 hours for the half - maybe you were so tired because you were running too fast Shocked .

I'm sure you will do just great Cool . And don't forget to enjoy yourself Very Happy .

No of course I'm not jealous

Hey Runnergurl,
I have no advice since I have never run a 1/2, but I wish you the
best on your race.
