This week is our kids last week with our current Au Pair, Kasia. She has been with us for two years and has seen and been a part of every major event in their lives. When she came, Hannah had no hair, could not talk and was still in diapers. Now Hannah has hair down to her middle back, does not stop talking and pees/poops quite well. The kids adore her and will miss her greatly. As much as we want her to stay, she needs to move on with her life and will be going back to Poland shortly to continue her studies.
She is leaving here with a greater appreciation of the US and loved this country and the people here. She came from a small town in Poland and never saw a shopping mall, never rode in a plane, never saw high speed internet and never saw as much food as are in our supermarkets.
She was invaluable to Robin and I as she graciously chipped in with JJ and Hannah when we were with Abby at the hospital. She never complained and was actually some sense of normalcy and stability for JJ and Hannah. Because she was a constant, and they were able to stay home, dealing with everything that has happened for the last two years as been remarkably easier.
Next week, we go to NYC to pick up Lenka who is from Slovakia. The kids are very excited yet do not understand why Kasia has to go. Lenka has a lot to learn because we take a lot for granted right now with Kasia. She knows where their schools are, where the food stores are and knows the kids routine. I will be home with Lenka for the first two weeks to help her ease in (I will be "home" sleeping, actually, we arrange for her to come when I am on nights that way I am home if there is a problem).

Wow. That must be like having a family member leave home. I hope Lenka is as wonderful.

Kudos to Kasia. just the thought of her at home knowing that if anything happenned miday with Abby that you could drop it all and go. May her life be filled with as much good as she has provided to y'all.
Lencka, My you be blessed with patience and understanding. a lot of responsibility for this young lady is now placed upon you
Oasters, enjoy the changes and be patient too. Joe coll that you could swing your schedule around like that. How much orientation you think will be needed for the enviormentals, schools, stores and such?

She is getting the crash course (maybe that is the wrong thing to say) when she comes to at least know where the schools are. I will probably have her out on Friday taking Hannah to school then Sat and Sun doing the route. She has to do it by herself on the following Tuesday. On Monday, I will go with her but she will be driving I will just see how she does.
