My shoes stayed tied! 19:29 for first place in old fart (40-44) age group and 7th overall. Small race - probably 80-100 competitors. The kid who won was a 12 yr old 6th fricking grader who knocked off something in the mid 17's.... Most of the better runners in the area will be up in cleveland this weekend for the Revco 10k and Marathon so the competition level certainly wasn't at it's peak.

Mile 1: 5:48 (nice downhill on this)

Mile 2: 6:31 (rolling terrain) I started fading a little towards end of this mile for some reason. i had really felt good up to about 1.75 mi.

Mile 3.1: 7:10 my quads went bye bye for some reason, legs felt like they weighed 100 lb each. Rolling terrain here also with most of it slightly uphill.

I'm not going to complain since I did take home some hardware but I've got an awful lot of work to do if I'm going to go under 19 minutes.

smoking first mile, just think the quad problem on the last mile really affected the time.

Great job

OH yeah forgot about this part. When the lady is announcing the awards I'm listening intently because I'm thinking I got at least 2nd. I couldn't understand the first name pronounced at all - it was a total butcher job of my name! So I kept quiet noticing nobody claimed the trophy. After all was said and done I asked to see who won that age group and there was my name. So I got my trophy.

Wheh! [sp?] I've got next weekend to beat you to the sub 19 5K.

Good race though. I know how you feel about blowing up towards the end.
