Yikes, I really need to put more into my weekly long runs. This was the farthest I've run probably since February, but maybe even longer than that. I was trying to keep all my splits under 9:00 and was doing great until mile 10 (mile 4 was 8:59.xx). One of the hardest parts of long runs is letting people pass you. Some guy about 65 years old passed me around mile 5 and I could just feel him thinking "I just passed some young skinny guy." I thought about cutting the run short so I could drop a fast mile and put him far behind, but I managed the discipline... today. Legs turned to mush around 7.5 and around 8.7 I stopped for a few minutes to get some water and give my legs a mini-rest. Picked it back up and finished the last 3.3 in a decent time, especially after starting back up. Finished the week with 38 miles, my highest of the year.
Edited: I ran a 13.1 miler in late March.

Best training day in a long time. Since I never post my workouts, I'll just hit the highlights....
Sheduled.. 4 hour ride then a 40 minute run.
Actual... 4:08:27. 82.75 miles. All done a high HR 2, low 3. For me that is right around 120. Run 4.6 miles. No time. I was right around the 8 minute mile though. (After running this particular route a million times, I know my pace pretty well.)
I finished the workout, had an Ensure, some eggs and a bagel and I feel fine. I think I'm ready.
Sheldon
BTW, the bike was not set up for race. No race wheels and all my lights and stuff are still attached.

4.25 miles in :37:18.50. Rain, roads very slippery. Miles averaged 8:30 or less except the second, which includes the steep downhill to, and uphill from, the lakeshore. That one was 9:33, which I'm very happy about.

10 miles in 1 hour 44 minutes. Just glad to get it in with almost a week of no running.
I'm feeling better about doing the half-marathon Nov 21. If I can get my runs in midweek, the weekend long run is no problem.

3 mile run on the treadmill in my new shoes! I love new shoes! Stomach a little better today, still taking it easy. After ran another 1.5 with Nichole. She ran the whole way! Hopefully she'll keep wanting to go.
Oh yeah, it's official today I surpassed my best year total and have 2 more months to add to it.
