Run with the club. Ran the run, looked at the time - could not have been right, not to mention the splits. Hopped into the Jeep and drove the course with the necessary distance measurer, committing a couple traffic violations along the way (fortunately the po-po were not present for these). The distance measured up. So -
Distance - 5.082 miles
Time - :42:53.89.
Splits - 8:09.48, 8:03.42, 7:59.83, 7:58.13, and 8:36.09.

What a great long run. It was about 53° at the start and 66° at the end. I was really overdressed in shorts and a long sleeve tshirt, but I didn't have a short sleeved shirt in my car so I figured I'd stick with it. It wasn't a problem at all, as I was comfortably warm the whole time. The first 4 miles or so were pretty rough - my legs weren't really into it and I was worrying that last night's sandwiches wouldn't be enough to carry me through 13 miles. I also felt the need to pee, but luckily that went away. Once my legs loosened up I felt great through the whole run and really had plenty of energy left over at the end. I could have easily done a few more miles (not at a 7:13 pace though). This run was really a much-needed confidence builder as the half is only 4 weeks away and I haven't been feeling very optimistic about it. I was planning on running it even if I wouldn't be able to make progress, but it's that much nicer when you can be happy with what you've accomplished. I most likely won't meet the goals I made at the beginning of the year, but I have no doubt that I'll put up a time I will be satisfied with. This also rounds off my highest mileage week ever (43 miles).

4 mile walk in 61 minutes. This brings me to 12 miles of running and 4 miles of walking this week, which is the most running I've ever done in a week. Ever. Even before all the casts. W00ty W00t!

Not the best run today. Ran 11 miles somewhere around 1.45. It was cold, about 40 F out,and windy. I ran a nice flat bike trail out in the middle of the wilderness. I just couldn't get it together.
A 6 point buck challenged me at mile 5.6. Oh yeah. I'm running, and I see this deer ahead of me. As I get closer, it's not moving and I see it's a male. It's rutting season for white tailed deer, and it's not that safe to be around these hormonely imbalanced males at this time. So I stop. He stares at me. I yell at him. He stares. I walk up a side road which intersects the path hoping he'll just leave. Oh no. He continues to follow my progress- he's watching me!
I decide to turn around here. Then I change my mind, I don't have my miles in yet. I yell some more. I finally scare Mrs Deer, who starts bounding away, and Mr Tough Guy kind of follows. He runs over the railroad tracks, which parallels the bike trail. As I run, he's pacing me. He finally crashes off in the woods on the other side, but now I am good and spooked, expecting a crazed deer to come at me any time.
Maybe next long run I'll just brave the cars on the road.

First post here, just found the forum!
I got 13 miles in today as well, little under 2:00, so all in all a good run. Beautiful weather here in Chicago.
