He has his kids tomorrow, so I won't get to see him on Christmas, which is ok.... the kids come first.

Now you listen here young lady! 
Hose must be cleaned, dried and stored so it will function properly the next time it's needed.
The last thing you need is leaky hose that gives way under pressure. Someone could get hurt!
And I'm sure your friend knows what three bells means, so make sure only use that alarm code when things get out of control.
