I'll give a yell. I won't use my phone, I'll just yell.
I don't know how the race will go, but something tells me I will defnintely have fun tomorrow. Even more so than usual.
Measured by winning hardware, this was not my race. However, on based on the above, this year's Main Event was an unqualified success. I arrived and was greeted by JUJR and JACKED. Everything felt fine, but I did make a mistake in not drinking enough before the race.
I've reported on this race twice before, so you know the course. After about two-thirds of the first mile, I started getting sick, no doubt from the lack of fluids and the humidity . None the less, a very fast pace to start, my fastest mile under a regular race situation (that is, where it doesn't go downhill - 7:26.69), and still under a sub-8 pace after two miles. With about three-fourths of a mile to go, the sick feeling went away and while it was kind of slow, I did figure the way home.
I continue to improve in this race each year, both in time and overall placing. It's just a place where I am, trying to figure how to get to the next level. Some races the effort is good enough to get there, some races it doesn't. It got me there at Pearl City, it didn't get me there today.
Those things happen. But I can't complain with the occasional AG hardware - some's better'n none.
The company was nice - not as much time with them as they were doing all the race-type things. They did it well, with one tiny exception (at the water stops, paper, not plastic). Some company is better than none. And despite the being sick part - even during that - I was having a very good time. I always do when I go to Lenna.
Race info - a comparison: 2005/2004/2003
Time - 25:14*/25:16/26:01
Overall place - 20/25/31
Men's place - 15/21/21
AG - 5/4/7
*Official time :25:17.05. Watch time :25:14.74.
Splits from the watch - 7:26.69, 8:21.75, 8:27.18 (going the wrong way is the only real disappointing thing from today).

I'm so PIZZED! I thought for sure I was going to see you so I didn't say goodbye! Dammit... I had my daughter's bday party to do, the parade, and the festival......but thought you'd stick around for the parade. (Lucky you didn't it was freakin hot!).
I'm sorry you didn't feel better, but it was really good to see you and you did an awsome job despite the nausea......you didn't mention the other tiny trouble at the start! Sheesh... talk about rinky dink small town, can't even figure out how to shoot the friggin gun......
BTW...I like running better than the working end of a race fo sho!
See you in a couple weeks!
