I ran that 5k in Cincinnati this morning!
Woke up to record-breaking rainfall. I watched the weather and could see a break in the thunderstorms that I hoped would allow us to run the race. One of the dad's who followed the bus on this trip is also a runner, and I convinced him to drive me to the race and run it. You know how hard it is to convince a runner to do a 5k. We had trouble finding the race in the downpour. Just as we got there, it let up. We got registered and it wasn't long before we started out on the race. Beautiful neighborhood and a drizzling rain for the race. Temp in the 60's.
Flat course, with 2 significant hills. The first split was not accurate as there is no way that I was running a 6:58 mile. 2nd split was called at about 16:30, which is right since my total race time was 25:41 (an 8:17 pace) This incredibly fast pace got me: 2nd place in my Age Group so technically it's hardware, even though the race organizers were to cheap to have trophies I got a discount coupon book to the market that sponsored the race.
A community band was playing. Food was good, and there were some good giveaways. Race shirt is not particularly special.
Downpours in the morning with lots of lightning. Rain stopped for the race, stayed clear for a little while, but in the afternoon not only did the downpours start again, but there was a tornado watch. Imagine being at an amusement park during a tornado watch
after about an hour the rain stopped, everything cleared and the sun came out!

Great job in the race! My parents live in Northern Ohio and they said the rain has been horrible, even having to close one school due to floods. Glad it let up enough for you to get in a run.

Good job Keltic. I'm sure with all that on and off again rain, that the humidity was awful.

nice part of town called Pleasant Ridge. Montgomery Rd runs through it. Race Director told me 1 significant hill. There were 2! But the second hill was where I passed a couple of runners. Strange finish too: hairpin turn to get into the chute; couldn't even see the clock as you approached.
Thanks everyone for your kind words!
