The problem with Rudy for President in 2008 is he has too much compassion for Republican tastes. If he would be a little more disparaging on the poor, downtrodden and others he would be much more appealing.
My feelings on Rice is she is too much like Miers - asking Bush what he thought before she would do anything.
But I certainly would support a McCain-Rudy or Rudy-McCain ticket in 2008 as far as Republicans go.

For you democrats out there I think a Miller / Lieberman ticket would be good. New England Jew and a Southern Baptist good 'ole boy |
Miller/Lieberman would certainly make wearing sheets in the South much more fashionable. I can't imagine a more anti-American and hateful ticket.
We need more pro-family, pro-gay, and pro-choice candidates in both the Republican and Democratic parties.

Let's see I'm the one thinking a black woman ( I hear even pro-abortion) might make a good president and this guy is calling me a racist.
Wow I think we need to find some compassionate liberalism here. Of course I always did think liberals liked their minorities down on the plantation. Let's see which party does Sheets Byrd belong to?

I don't see any posts where anyone called you a racist? Just because someone is of one race, sexual orientation or culture does not mean they cannot be narrow minded. If Rice was to profess any independent thoughts outside the administration I would be more apt to give her some consideration. Same thing would go for Miers as a SCJ.

I saw nothing of the sort.
How are you considering Bush a mainstream president? What is your definition of mainstream?

Mainstream means giving gays equal rights (not more, just the same), women free choice over their bodies, including babies. What you are referring to as mainstream is the radical, religious right which has the intentions of forcing it's views upon moderate Americans.

what's free choice?
Does mainstream mean giving women choice of where to send there children to school in the form of vouchers or the choice to purchase guns?
From a political standpoint - I think your idea of mainstream is just as radical to the left that you think the inverse is radical to the right. They're two very divisive issues and by default are not mainstream.

They're two very divisive issues and by default are not mainstream. | The last paragraph brings up a good point/question - is there such a thing as mainstream? You can't satisfy everyone with a new law or the existing law on any issue. You will satisfy many and antagonize many. Even the Constitution and its amendments.
And you can't satisfy everyone you consider conservative - while there is a majority that agree with a stand on an issue (hence making it the conservative view), you will not get 100% support of those calling themselves conservative. Same deal for liberals.
Mainstream is like moderate - some views from column A, some from column B. But there's no such thing as an exact middle.
