IF you must run the day of a race, make it a light/easy day. a hard training session would definately wipe you out. I myself have running as a secondary sport. my primary being speed and distance inlines. i would not run myself if i had a race that night. the MOST would be a jog for 5-10 minutes to get a good stretch several hours before the race(s). nothing saying that the BMX racing is not a cross trainer. sounds like to me that could be considered a lactic threshhold training session personally.
