I usually run in the morning and want to know if I should be running on an empty stomach...

I've ran empty-stomached for 25-yrs. That's just me though. Seems like the majority of runners like to put something in the tank before, or even more unfathomable to me, during a run.
I call my methods, caveman-running. There's a certain advantage, I believe, in "deprivation". I have long found that training on empty lets me tap some deep reserves and conditions my body to readily tap those needs when during a race I'm pushing everything to the limit, I'm not entering unexperienced territory of having to reach deep when the tank feels like it's run dry.

If I run in the early morning, I usually eat a couple of Triscuits because they're handy. I'm not much for eating in the early AM.

That's one reason I ran in the evening. I hadn't just eaten, but I had stuff recently.
My problem was I hate eating in the am and I have way too many stomach acids to go through a run without anything.
It's personal, I guess.

I always run on an empty stomach.... even my long runs and races (up to Half Marathons) I won't eat before.

On my morning long runs, I eat 1 cup of organic oatmeal, tall glass of gatorade, and a tall glass of water.

I don't normally eat before morning runs. But will have a bowl of oatmeal the morning of a longer race (half/Full Marathon)

I won't usually eat breakfast before I run in the morning, but if my run is later in the day chances are I usually have something in my tummy for it.

I try to eat something high in protien so it fills me up, like some frosted miniwheats or a yogurt. I generally run after work and always have a snack first, otherwise my energy level is nil.

I've been running before work and on an empty stomach for 17 years. I will eat something before a long run of 12 or more miles though. Usually a half a bagel and/or a banana.

It depends on how long I'll be running. If I'm only doing 3 or 4 miles I won't eat. If I'm going to be out there for an hour or more I'll have a piece of toast.

I cannot eat before I run. Nothing, or I feel sick.

If I'm hungry, I eat toast or a bagel. If I'm not, I just go run. Races are a little different for me since I'm usually awake for 2 hours or so before the race actually starts - and by that time I will be very hungry if I haven't eaten anything. For races I eat toast or bagels when I first get up and maybe a powerbar half an hour before the race. Any time you are eating before a run though, eat light and avoid greasy foods. I don't think there's any good rules of thumb - just do what is comfortable.
