Posted: 02/10/03 - 15:21 Post subject: Robin goes for a stress test tomorrow AM
She has been having chest pains and heart palpatations of late. She went to see her doc who recommended a stress test.
He thinks it could be stress related due to all that is happening in her life and job.
Oh well, the hits just keep on coming in my life.

YIKERS!!! Hopefully it's nothing serious....fingers crossed here! Keep us posted, Joe! You're certainly right about all the stress you've both been under......I honestly don't know how you cope sometimes.
{{{{Robin}}}} pass this on for me, wouldja?

hope things work out -- that chest pain thing can be stressful in itself.
let us know what they say -- if anything. my guess is that they'll have her in limbo for about 3 weeks whilst they dork around with her file and decide who gets it next and then what and then who and now what and so on and so on-----
hope this doctor has a brain. I'm in an un-doctor mood lately. MDs that is.

Joe, through my clinic and as a result of my own experiences in the past, I have done quite abit of work with anxiety related issues. I don't know if you have heard of Hyperventilation Syndrome, but it is possible this is what Robin may be dealing with if the doc thinks it is stress related. The symptoms are often very very similar to those associated with heart problems, and many people go undiagnosed for years. The short explanation is that over a period of time our breathing gets out of kilter, and we take short shallow breaths, and often breathe very fast. We should breathe at about 10-12 breaths per minute, but those with HS often breathe at 20 breaths per minute. As a result, we end up with too much CO2 in our system, and not enough O2, which triggers the autonomic nervous system which releases amounts of adrenaline into the blood stream. This is the classic fight or flight state of readiness.
HS is not uncommon in people who have experienced trauma or periods of prolonged stress, and in my experience it also seems to be prevalent in women in their 30's. Given all that you guys have to deal with, and have dealt with in the past, I would suggest that she is a classic for HS, and at least it should be eliminated.
I would highly recommend a book by Dinah Bradley. She is an international authority on HS, and just happens to be a NZer as well . Here is a link, and if you want any further info or would like me to send you a copy of the book, just PM me. If I sound kind of passionate about HS, it is because I am, having seen the misery that HS causes, but also the dramatic changes that take place once the breathing is corrected. And the book is great for asthma sufferers too .

Joe: I know we'll all just pray a little harder tonight. I hope everything goes well.
