But not having anything for the winner of a 50 mile race??!!
Did you get a t-shirt? Maybe you could frame that up or something. |
Everyone Got a t-shirt, a PLASTIC coffee mug and I got a gift certificate to the local running store. The gift certificate was for less than my entry fee!

If I ever finished a 50 mile run, I'd bypass the trophy and buy myself a BMW. |
No kidding. That would be an amazing day for me!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Now i just need to find a trophy shop on my side of town. |
you could just be replacing the one that "broke"
i contradict myself in the polls really,
should YOU yes. i think you worked hard at it and just the sight of it will make you prouad and possibly inspire training.
would I. i doubt it, i am not much for self-indulging. I'm normally happy with a good steak and beer after a race that i have to by myself.

Thanks again for all the comments everyone.
Yes I was extremely proud of myself for finishing the 50K and to hear my wife's voice on the other end of the phone line was unreal. I was really lucky that my parents were at our house visiting to so I got to talk to them also. I really think it took about 2 days for the reality to set in.
The main reason I want the trophy is to remind me of at least one time in my life when the planets aligned, my training kicked ass and I had some luck to win a small, but LONG, race.
For the newbies here, here is the link to my race report: http://runningforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18379
I hope you all continue to train hard and try and meet your goals.

nope I wouldn't, but I have no trophies on display.....I'm thrilled when I get something else. I would definitely commemorate you moment, if a trophy does it for you.....go for it.
One thing I'd like is a snapshot of my shoes, medal, number on the finishing line....long after the last person crosses the line........I'm saving this for my final marathon

Go ahead - I would get one of those nice, subtle, glass paperweights with all the race info on it. You deserve the recognition even though they were too cheap to even get a trophy for the 1st place finisher...

Do what makes YOU happy! That is one heck of an acheivement, and you should have something by which to remember it.
