How old do you realistically expect to be when you retire?
If you were financially able to retire today, would you?

If "retire" = Leaving a job that I loathe with all my being because I am financially set for the rest of my life....
Then yes, I'd retire.
I would go to work as a teacher or volunteer though.
I expect to be 84.3 before I'm able to afford it though

Aren't you a little young to be thinking about retiring?

I'll be able to retire in my 50s, but will probably work well into my 60s.

Hell yes. Then I could do all the training and volunteer work I want.

I've been thinking about retirement since I was in college.

If I stay with my current emplyer, at age 52 I'll have 30 years in and can draw pension for the rest of my life. The retirement is about the only good thing about our state gov't.

1) Under Civil Service, one must be age 55 with 30 years of service to get their full pension. When I get my thirty in, I'll just be 53. So it looks like another six years under that scenario.
2) Shame on you for asking this question. With early-out, I could retire next year. But I don't know if I could do so on a financially sound basis.

Hopefully before 60.
In a heartbeat. I'll be able to collect a pension in 4 yrs and 8 months but I would still have to work to supplement that and to pay for the health insurance I'd give up by retiring. So that ain't gonna happen....

I'd retire immediately were I able. There's so much else to do! I think I would still do some sort of volunteerting but really I'd like to just be a travel bum. I wouldn't mind a second career as a travel bum.

Geez, I don't know...I guess I'll retire when I can.
If I was financially able...I could retire from teaching, be a stay at home Dad, marathon trainer, and...still coach basketballl. (I love working with the kids too much to quit everything)

I've been thinking about that a lot lately....I can retire from the public schools in 4 or 5 years, but I want to have some type of part time gig doing fun stuff with the kids, just not all the paperwork and tense meetings.....
I could move into a small 2 bedroom house or cabin, play on the computer and run and ride bikes whenever I want.....I could live a very simple life....
