How is election day going in your neck of the woods?

I took the morning off to put in a few hours for Kerry/Edwards and have these observations:

There was a line at my polling place at 7:00am.

By ten when I voted I was number 200!

The two areas I canvassed (North Philly and Mt Airy) were full of folks who had already gone to the polls by early/mid-morning.

On both trips I was accompanied by a different woman from New York State, each of whom had driven down to PA of their own volition to volunteer for Kerry in a battleground state.

I heard polls were crowded nationwide. FYI: Sonnylax, NPR mentioned Norcross, GA on its national feed!! I was like, "Why do I know that place? Oh right!" They said folks there were waiting up to two hours to cast ballots, so line up, Bud!!

At ours too. By the time I dropped off our kids at 7:30, (where there is another polling place) their line was probably an hour long. I felt for the people at the end, but I was glad to see the turn-out.

I'm off this afternoon to go help - drive or phone call or maybe both. I check in when I get back.

There was also a line at my place at 7am. I was out by 8, but was voter 183. At least they set up chairs along the walls for folks to sit on. Nobody was sitting until i sat down and you could see folks down the line drop like dominoes.

A two-minute process. I saw my neighbor. She brought her dog. I admonished the dog to vote the right way. I cheered when I pushed my vote button for president. The polling volunteer asked if everything was OK. I told them I was just happy to be there.

The image of a concerned poll worker worrying about the crazy lady cheering behing curtain #1 made me laugh. Mr. Green but I felt a little bit the same way. It has never felt so good to vote.

At polling place at 7:00 about a 10-15 minute wait in line...I was number 36 to vote and there were probably 40-50 in line when I left at 7:20ish...

My Mom who lives only 3 miles away (different polling place though) waited an hour and half this AM. She was in line at 6:45am.

One of the poll workers at my poll reported folks getting in line at 4:30am. Wow! Only took me ~ 40 minutes though by mid-morning.

Number 921 here in Wobegon. 5 other people at the polls when I went at noon. Took a whopping 90-seconds. Got my cookies and "I voted" sticker.

over an hour in my district. the line moved very slow because there was one table for 4 districts.....to prevent fraud they said. So although there were 8 booths, only two being used at a time. PPP. Other districts had a separate table for each ward to prevent double voting. Of course people aren't voting twice. Like I'm going to wait in line another hour and fifteen.
