Anyone who's been running for more than a month has had "run forrest run" yelled at them. If I had a dollar for every time I've heard it, I could retire today. Here's the best reply I've read for that, modified from an episode of Family Guy:

Ha ha ha! Oh gosh that's funny! That's really funny! Do you write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. "run forrest run". You know, I've never heard anyone make that joke before. Hmm. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference that outside the movie before. Because that's what she says on the movie right? Isn't it? "run forrest run". And, yet you've taken that and used it out of context to insult me in this everyday situation. God what a clever, smart person you must be, to come up with a joke like that all by yourself. That's so fresh too. Any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me too as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. God you're so funny!

Also, what are some of the other things you've had yelled at you while running? Run forrest run is by far the most popular, but I'v also been treated to "nice shorts, fag!", "get off the road!", and "put some clothes on!" These are some of the more common ones. What are your favorites?

Nothing negative, just the usual whistles and cat calls. I did have a group of cyclists yell at me to get on the other side of the road when I was a new runner.

I eliminated most of that jibberish by running before the assholes wake up these days. I got more debris thrown at me than comments. Nothing like a beer bottle flying by your head that was heaved from a junker weaving along at 45 mph.

I once was mooned!

I was running by a hotel, and these hunters were in there (It was October) and someone yelled at me, and I turned my head and there was this guys big ole white butt stuck in the hotel window.

I hope they thought it was funny.

Where do you people run - around prison yards? dunno

Joggers are a pretty common sight around where I live. The worst I get is teenage girls who think its funny to say hi to every runner that passes by.

I guess I run so slow that people don't consider it running, thus have never once yelled that at me.

When I turned into the driveway of my apartment complex some kind young man yelled out that I was making a wrong turn. Where he was when I turned my 13 mile run into 15 miles with a wrong turn, I'll never know.

Being a girl with a ponytail sticking out of a ballcap is like a magical forcefield that deters all insults. I think the swishing hypnotizes people.... Wink
