As in plain jane, mary jane shoes... I'm sometimes called SJ or Sara Jane but never Jane. Named after great aunt Sara Jane whom everyone called Jane (no one knew she was a Sara).
I think Jane would be a fab first name now... kinda cool cause it's so square. i'm rambling

reminds me of my grandmother who just turned 95. She goes by Bernice, but her name is actually Nellie Bernice. her brothers and sisters used to make fun of her name "Nellie Burn her A$$" so the solution was to go by Bernice. When she dies, no one will recognize her name in the obit
