Just curious to see what religion people are here, and how often you attend mass, services, etc. Also interested to see how you are involved in your place of worship, (committees, etc.)

Assembly of God.

We were going every week, but have missed the last two Sundays. I don't consider myself a good christian and very unworthy of the blessings I have received in my life. I have struggled with my faith for many years now despite the clear messages and answers I receive.

At our church in Indianapolis I was heavily involved (food pantry, children's church) and I haven't got my feet wet at this church...yet.

They have a pregnancy crisis center that I want to help with and a couple of other areas.

Began as Methodist, raised Presbyterian. Was once very involved: taught Sunday School for 4 years, was on the church board as an Elder for 3. After living through that, my best friend's problems with the Catholic Church, various things in my life, and then The Paramedic's 4 years in seminary, I had seen enough of The Church inside and out to decide religion, organized or not, had no place in my life. Athiest.

Pebbs and I both were raised very strict traditional Catholics

Over the past few years I (not speaking for Pebbs) have grown ill over the church's protection of priests who commit horrible crimes/offenses to the people they shepard.
I went to a high school where the Head Master/Priest lured many students who had low self esteem and poor home situations to his home on the campus. I was warned to stay away from the priest by my older brother who heard the rumors 6 years before. This went on for a long time.
The protection he was afforded by the higher archy of the church has made me question the church as a whole.

The abused students have filed lawsuits, but as he left the priesthood years ago, the diocese has washed it's hands of the matter.
Additionally the assistant principal of our school (also a priest) has been rewarded for his tight lips (my opinion only) and moved through the church quite quickly to the point he is now a bishop in a city in the midwest.

Criminals exist in all religions, whether is is pedophiles or outright thiefs. The most despicable part is the use of religion to lure the weak to take advantage. Some of the most wicked people have bible quotes on the wall of their offices while they are screwing you in more ways than one.

Born Catholic. Went to Methodist church starting in 5th grade through college with neighbors because my family didn't go to church. Was very involved in the youth program where we went on several missions and worked with the needy in Detroit. At 16 received a scathing letter from my cousin the preist who said that basically I was going to hell for going to the Methodist church while I was a Catholic. After my father died suddenly when I was 20, I quit the Methodist church because of the way the minister dealt with the whole situation and my Mother. Moved out East and haven't gone to church since. Currently Athiest.

I suppose that I'm an agnostic. I consider my Lutheran (ALC then ELCA) upbringing, in part, as indoctrination. As such I struggle with the concept of inherent guilt as it relates to original sin. Dang, sometimes I feel guilty about everyfrickinthing with is a bit of tangent to that statement I realize. Faith is also an issue...if faith is only given by "God's grace", not earned, not rewarded, not suffered for,... why not enlighten absolutely every last person with faith.
