Ok, suppose you used to run alot. Suppose you took a year or so off from running but stayed very fit on the bike, then basically took 3 months off. Ok, now suppose you are running again, starting with 15 mpw, with a bump to 20 in three weeks.

Suppose you used to do a fairly decent amount of hill and speed work, but it has been about a year since you saw the track.

Ok, question: How much of a base should I lay down before reintroducing limited amounts of interval work? My turnover is snail like. Really, I mean like real slow, slower than the slow I was at top form.

A few 200s would never hurt. Might help you get your turnover back.

Alan I did speedwork regularly when I was at 25-30 miles a week. Mostly 400 intervals in an effort to get my 5k time down and it worked.
