I've read online that you have to register in person, or have someone in person register for you. Is this true?!? Seems rather restrictive to me....

No, you can register online as well. Usually 10 am local time the day after the event. Check their website for official start of registration.

Maybe, but probably '08 or '09. My swimming has really, REALLY suffered after being sick this winter. A partially torn tendon in the rotator cuff doesn't help much either.
BTW, good luck on yours coming up. Which one are you doing?

Ah crap. The IM Canada site says
| Quote: | | There is no online general entry for Ironman Canada. |
After that, all remaining go to Active.com for a lottery.
Might be doing Lake Placid instead....

You have to go in person because the entry fee costs an arm and a leg

Glad that's all, 'cause that's all that would be left after I booked my flight there.

Thanks. I'm doing Ironman New Zealand on March 4th. And I swim like a brick, so don't let that stop you!
I have been enquiring about entering Ironman Canada 2007 and came across the same information you did. Obviously I can't be there to register in person, so I emailed the "contact us" to enquire how internationals were supposed to enter. They have sent me another email contact so I am going to write to them and see what response I get.

I am interested in doing the race in 2007 but can't be there to register.
Have you heard back from them?

Well I found out they hold a block of entries for internationals - those who reside outside the US/Canada.
We have to contact them immediately after this years race and they will fax us an entry form which we have to send straight back with payment. I don't know how many places they have - at this stage there are 5-10 of us planning on going over, subject to entry of course.
