You can cross LOTR: ROTK off the list, I just watched it.

I loved Titanic; maybe you won't.
Or, the whole Kill Bill Thing...it's pretty long Parts 1 and 2.

TV show series would be good too, as long as it takes 3 hrs.
I haven't seen a current TV show since 1995.

THat helps because I am having trouble coming up with a 3 hour movie worth anything and I can't. (ie, Titanic is poop. No offense) and most tv series have up to about 3-4 hours per disk in a series.
unless you haven't seen Gone with the Wind (dvd change midway I think though). Or Scarface. Or The Godfather.
Good Series: Rescue Me. About a New York Fire dept present day that went through 9/11 and lost some guys but they are surviving today. Its serious but funny. Dennis Leary is the main guy. Its good. I know there is at least 1 season out on DVD, I think maybe 2, and since each episode is an hour on TV, a disk of 4 episodes is probably about 3 hours+
Lost is good too, season 1 is out. You have to pay attention to it to get it all, which is why I've fallen behind in it, but its on dvd.
Arrested Development is HILARIOUS and I think you'd get it (a lot of people don't) start at seasson 1 and work on, there are 2 seasons on dvd.
Also funny: Curb your Enthusiasm
If you want to appease your inner high school kid, The O.C. is fantastic. Coach will admit this too.
I'm still thinking, just thought I'd contribute the ones I like.

Lawrence of Arabia
Gandhi
(Both of those aren't exactly thrilling, but good nonetheless)
I'm assuming you watched the first two LOTR.

You left out Ben Hur, War and Peace (some versions are actually eight hours) the English version from the 50's is about 4 hours. Isn't Dr Zhivago about 3+ hours ?
Around the World in 80 days - lots and lots of stars in cameo roles - great movie for trivia buffs.
