Posted: 12/17/03 - 10:27 Post subject: Really bad drivers
Last night i'm driving home from work. I have to get onto the highway. I am coming to a stop light where i turn right to exit onto the highway. I am in the turning lane as i come up to a gas station on my right. A car swerves in front of me and pulls into the gas station. That may not sound too bad, but the car was coming towards me and had to swerve across one lane on his side of the road, four lanes of my side of the road, and had to aim directly at me before turning into the gas station.
Um....I don't know the Twin Cities area that well, but i'm convinced there is more than one gas station in Minneapolis that does not require you to pull into oncoming traffic to reach.
But maybe i'm wrong about that.

That's so wierd! Last night I was almost out of gas before I caught sight of this station, but it was on the other side of the road! I barely managed to get into the station cause some dork coming the other way couldn't read my frickin mind and slow up to let me pull in! The nerve of some people!

There are so many crappy drivers out there it's amazing there aren't more fatalities on the nation's (and Canada's) roads. The town where I work has an abundance of older, retired and downright ancient people that all drive 10 mph UNDER the speed limit, have trouble negotiating turns, etc. They make me nuts.

I'll have you know that I'm still well under that age of ancient.

They seem to forget the lessons from the previous winter.

So do as rob asks and drive the speed limit and stay the hell out of the passing lane...when you're doing the speed limit! I'm fairly certain that every state in the Union requires: SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT.
This is good advice if you don't want anyone riding your ass.

My personal favorite is the guy who steps on it to pull out in front of you, essentially cutting you off, and then goes SLLLOOWWWW. And there's no one behind you FOR MILES!!!
What, hitting the gas as a knee jerk reaction? Well then jerk that knee some more pal, or get outta my way.

What about his idiot brother? You know the one - he's the guy who pulls out in front of you (with no one behind you in sight) and he doesn't step on the gas!

Listen boys...
1) I drive with the flow...no slow poke here.
2) I could be in the far right lane and they'd still ride my ass.
3) It's these dam Phoenix drivers I tell ya. They'd drive right through your car if they could.
So.There!
And since when is it the norm to pass in the right lane!!!

Having just returned from driving in Italy, where there are no traffic laws, only suggestions; there are no traffic lanes, only suggestions on where the cars, buses, scooters and cyclists ought to share the road; you get ONE CHANCE to figure out where to change directions (road signs are apparently at a premium there!), street signs are non-existent, and everyone drives way faster than they should and think nothing of bypassing a backed up lane by driving into oncoming traffic...I have only this to say...Driving in the US is sheer HEAVEN!!!
I'll start complaining again next week!
