Let's see...there are two Governor elections. I looks like Corzine (D) easily over Forrester. That race one turned quite nasty near the end.
And in Virginia, the last polls show Kaine (D) beating Kilgore. This will be a very interesting race to watch.
So, any thoughts about if these races are omens of things to come in '06?

Just a thought, but I think Corzine is aligning himself for a presidential run. Most likely in 2012.

That is interesting, I hadn't thought about that but you may be on to something.

My theory is that most Presidents have prior experience as Governors and that Corzine is adding that to his resume.
By the time the 2012 election cycle comes around, Corzine will have had 7 years (assuming he is relected) as Governor. He also will have name recogniton as having been a Senator.

My kids have school (catholic school) but don't have gym because our gym is a polling place.

Larger than usual for a Nov. off year election. We have 9 statewide constitutional amendments on the ballot, including a "gay marriage" ban amendment. Statewide, usually 6 to 8 per cent of the registered voters turnout, this time it might spike to 12-15 per cent. An uncontested mayor race in Houston, some city charter stuff in Dallas.

The Kaine victory was big, especially given the 11th hour Bush appeal for Kilgore. The omen for '06 and possibly for '08 may have been spelled out in this race...but we'll see if the DNC actually picks up on it....that is a moderate Dem who empahsizes their values and religion can be a tough candidate to run against....(though iraq, scooter, fema debacles may have played a big part, so who knows how much that really factored into Kaine's victory)?
also interesting -- the california rebuke of Ahnuld....
