I started with Houston Cellular and they were acquired by Cingular, who is still really good. I am especially happy after listening to Sprint users rant, because its apparently the same thing here. And the funny thing is, Sprint users have NO service downtown Houston. And 2 interstates and 2 major state highways run straight through downtown...yet I have a perfect signal here...

I started with AT&T and their service was spotty (Oh and the phone number they gave me was for the greater St.Louis MO area 254 miles from home).
My new phone is Motorola phone using Cingular and I can't say enough good praises about them. I have so many cellular towers that my service home is awesome, and after taking it to Ohio this past weekend only had one call that was dropped (at the airport) and that was fixed on my next call.
Thought about Nextell also but heard the same story about their network.
Keep me in the loop on this Kristin.

I agree with Keith, I have been with Cingular for over 2yrs now and have never really had any problems with them. I think your best bet is to go with Cingular or Verizon they are the two big guns with the most coverage and towers. I wont switch from Cingular.

different carrier accel in different markets. For instance, Verizon is supra-weak up here...to make matter worse, they had to hand over some of their own digital towers to the MAN, so now they're relying even more on their partners towers. But I know that in some larger markets, Verizon is the way to go.
Just ask family and friend what works in your area. That's the best way to figure out this whole mess...

I don't know anyone here with Cingulair (that sounds too much like my asthma medication!!!). One of my friends has Verizon and has the same issues. B/F has Nextel and his phone always works (I've used it for "emergency" calls when I've really got to talk with someone and my own phone keeps dropping or the network is busy.
