What's up with that?
I rode by an empty lot that had been cleared for, I assume, a new house but smack in the middle of the property is a chain link fence that was surrounding 3 or 4 headstones.

You sure they didn't come across the graves when they tore down the buildings and leveled the ground?

Well at least it's not like Poltergeist where they moved the headstones but left the graves!!
There are some interesting random cemetaries out in the countryside here. Where there is no houses or church nearby but sometmes a nicely maintained old cemetary.

Some of my family has well kept cemetaries on the corner of our farm land. Of course, only relatives are allowed to be interred.

No, this was just an empty lot. The headstones were never visible from the street before because of all the trees.

I'm with MB. Especially in the south, you will find what seemingly looks like pasture land with a square plot of headstones. There may be as little as 2 or as many as 20, depending on how long it was there. This pasture land was no doubt someone's plantation or farm many years ago and they often buried their dead on their land, but sometimes up to a mile away from the house.

I've seen a lot of the family type cemetaries on properties I've hunted over the years.
