Posted: 07/05/03 - 08:23 Post subject: RTPD officer baseball card proposal
I am overseeing a proposal for the department to get each officer police baseball cards. I have submitted a proposal and will see how it goes. It is my first proposal ever typed and I even included that I would oversee the program.
It will be interesting to see how it goes. I will also be interested to see, the new community policing philosophy for the department and how relevant this is to that in their consideration of the proposal.

Cool. Will you be using this picture?
I can just picture the back of the card:
Shoots: Right
Batons: Right
Handcuffs: Left
Misc: Dances the Cha-Cha and merengue

Me too, me too! I have tons of them in my classroom that I've collected, or the kids have gotten for me.
Seriously, it's a neat thing to do. Even if the H.S. kids act as if they could care less, they certainly love getting those cards from our guest speakers.

well my proposal is 88.50 per 1000 cards, so I will have more than enough to go around.

Is this something the twp. would pay for or each officer.
With nearly 50 officers that is 4,000 bux.

That is part of the proposal. It may be a line item in the capital budget for next year. Or we could solicit proposals from business for sponsorships or some guys here would willingly pay themselves (I for one would, it is pretty cheap).
The dept. already said that it want to buy business cards @ $40.00 a pop so it is not much more.

From an accounting stand point its not a captial item. Its something that can't be depreciated, and its not real property.

For us though they mean a capital expense, non employee, like a vehicle, or ammunition, uniforms. All part of our equipment/capital budget that we put in every year. I see what you mean though.
