So you're going furniture shopping and you bring with you a tape measure, (which you don't really need because I can guarantee that any furniture store out there has plenty of those hanging around.) do you carry it or clip it onto your waist? What's the point of walking around with it clipped to your waist? From my stand point you look like you're trying to prove something.

Because when you put it in your front pocket it is uncomfortable. It's big, bulky, and looks stupid. That is why they make them with a clip, because it does not fit well at all in your front pocket.

You just do not understand men let me try and explain 
First off men are self sufficent creatures, to ask some one for a tool especially when you should bring you own is like grounds for suspension from the dude club.
Clipping on the belt is what it has a belt clip for 
Plus, I can look like I really know what I am doing by taking sophisticated measurements.

In order to get in to the local HD, mins must have the tape measure clipped to there belt, or they can't get in
